Hattori Knives Model 983A Dagger 2016 Knife of the Year

This is the Limited Edition, 2016 Knife of the Year, 983A dagger from Hattori Knives in Seki Japan.  Hattori, who produces very fine handmade knives, creates a Knife of the Year, every year.  This year's model is extra special.  Double edged knives were recently outlawed for sale in Japan.  Hattori used to made a 983A (small) and a 983B (large) dagger/boot knife.  These were double edged.  When the law came into effect, the production of these knives ceased.  Well, Ichiro Hattori recently found 110 knife blanks of the 983A in their warehouse.  He thought they would made a tremendous Knife of the Year.  He was right!  These were made solely for sales/shipping out of Japan.  With only 110 made, these are super, high value collectibles.  Especially since there will never be any more made.
