The Medaka Bird & Trout knife from Ichiro Hattori is designed for fine field work. This beautiful knife is handmade in Seki, Japan and the perfect companion at your favorite stream or field.
The Medaka is 6-1/2" in overall length and has a 3-3/8" VG-10 stainless steel blade. The 3.5mm thick drop-point blade has a fine cutting edge. This is a full tang knife with black /green Micarta handles with nickel silver pins and a lined lanyard hole. It features an elegantly tapered tang. This knife comes with a high quality leather sheath is delivered in a fancy tooled Hattori box.The Medaka is a superb, scalple-like knife and a genuine Hattori. Hattori trout and bird knife
In my opinion, Hattori makes the holy grail of trout and bird style knives. The fit, finish and sharpeners out of the box is the best I’ve ever come across. But, you will pay the price for these superb quality knives. And, these days they are not easy to come by unless you want to order direct from Japan or purchase off of eBay. I hope Knife Command can keep an inventory of products from this company. I also have Moki and G Sakai made trout and bird knives and they are also superb in their quality and craftsmanship, Hattori just takes it up a notch, I find them almost to nice to use in the field, what a dilemma.
