The Guardian Tactical Recon-035 sets the industry standard for OTF Automatics a lot higher. With its patented OTF mechanism, opening and closing this blade is significantly smoother and very strong. Their new locking mechanism doesn't touch the blade in motion thereby reducing friction and wear. The thumb slide utilizes a steel plate and ceramic balls to eliminate typical OTF wear on the aluminum handle. Now with Elmax steel blade. Looks the same as pictured, but with an Elmax.

The Recon-035 Double-Action Automatic has an overall length of 8” and a closed length of 4.5". The 3.375" fine edge, spear-point blade is made of Black stonewash finished Elmax stainless steel. The OD Green Type lll Hardcoat Anodized Aluminum handle is approx. 7/16" thick and has milled traction slots for a non-slip grip. The black stonewash thumb slide rides on a stainless steel plate with ceramic balls to reduce friction. It features all black hardware with a black stonewash, serial numbered pocket clip for tip-down carry. It also has a lanyard hole.

2. Only one complaint
  
  The action is smooth, and is easy to actuate. The size is good for everyday carry, and it feels good in the hand. I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 due to one complaint.
  
  My only complaint is that the front of the handle needs to be slightly longer. The tip sits so close to the edge of the opening, that you can run your finger along the front and actually cut your skin.
  
  It's not a real safety hazard, as you can only get a slight cut to the very outer layer Even if you pressed hard, trying to cut yourself, it likely wouldn't bleed.
  
  No the problem is that the tip is less protected because of this. If you carry keys or other small metal items in your pocket, they can damage the tip.
  
  Just an extra 32nd of an inch or a mm longer would have been helpful. It won't protect the tip completely, but it would be a bit more margin for error.
  
  It's not a deal breaker, I actually like it a bit better than a MT UT or UTX 85, due to it being a bit beefier in construction. Jason on Oct 27, 2019 Oct 27, 2019
